A creator opens a Decision Room, adds the options, sends one link, and lets everyone rank the choices. Rankroom combines the preferences into a transparent result, shows ties honestly, and helps the group move from discussion to action.

Most basic creation and participation flows do not require an account.

A faster, fairer way for groups to decide

Group chat is good at conversation. It is not a decision system.

Everyday groups repeatedly face choices that are easy to describe and surprisingly hard to close:

Where should we eat?
What should we watch?
Which activity works for the group?
Which gift should we buy?
Which destination should we choose?
What name or theme is strongest?
Which task should come first?

A single-choice poll loses the fact that several options may be acceptable in different orders. An open chat rewards the loudest or most persistent voice. A spreadsheet is too much work.

Rankroom gives the group one lightweight activity designed for the decision itself.

The Decision Room flow

1. Create

Enter the question, add at least two options, and optionally include links, photos, locations, prices, constraints, a deadline, or simple room rules.

The first screen stays intentionally small. Advanced settings remain available without blocking a quick room.

2. Share

Publish an unlisted room and share the link through the same chat, workspace, or social channel where the discussion is already happening. A QR code can support in-person groups.

The participant link never includes the private creator-management capability.

3. Rank

Each participant puts the options in order and can mark an option “Not workable for me” when a hard constraint applies.

The interface supports drag, numbered selection, buttons, keyboard controls, and accessible alternatives.

4. Close

The creator closes the room, a deadline closes it, or the room follows the selected result rule.

5. Understand the result

Rankroom computes an immutable result snapshot for that room revision. The group sees the winner or co-winners, full ranking, participation, consensus indicator, and a plain-language explanation.

6. Act

After the result is computed, the product can offer a useful next action: reserve, order, buy, stream, get tickets, add to a calendar, or share the plan.

Commercial availability never changes the ranking.

Ranked preferences, not only first choices

The default product design uses normalized Borda consensus. Each submitted ballot has equal weight, and the result reflects the group’s ordered preferences rather than counting only the first choice.

The product explains the selected method in normal language. It does not turn a dinner decision into election administration.

Fairness people can see

Rankroom’s core rules include:

Every submitted ballot has equal weight.
Creators cannot rewrite another participant’s ballot.
Individual ballots remain private by default.
Commercial metadata cannot enter the score.
Sponsored suggestions receive no ranking advantage.
A closed room has an immutable result snapshot.
Ties are shown as ties.
Reopening creates a new result revision and is disclosed.
Duplicate-participation safeguards are proportional and transparent.

Absolute duplicate prevention is impossible for a guest-first product without requiring stronger identity. Rankroom explains suspicious activity rather than pretending anonymous participation has no tradeoff.

No account before value

A first-time user can create or join as a guest. Account prompts appear when they unlock a real benefit:

Cross-device history.
Recovery when a device or creator token is lost.
Saved Circles.
Recurring rooms.
Larger limits.
More AI suggestions.
Notifications.
Themes, exports, or integrations.
Purchase recovery.

The product demonstrates the decision experience before asking for identity.

Circles for the groups that decide together again

A Circle saves a recurring group and its defaults. It can support family plans, movie nights, teams, roommates, events, or community organizers.

A host can reuse members, settings, templates, and recent options rather than rebuilding the same room every week.

Notifications remain opt-in. Rankroom does not scrape address books or message contacts without an explicit share action.

AI suggests options. It does not decide.

When a creator needs a shortlist, Rankroom AI can use structured context such as category, approximate location, mood, budget, time, dietary needs, or accessibility.

The flow remains controlled:

01The creator reviews what context will be sent.
02The AI provider generates candidates.
03Rankroom normalizes, filters, and deduplicates them.
04The creator adds, edits, dismisses, or regenerates each suggestion.
05Only accepted candidates enter the room.
06Every accepted option is treated identically in scoring.

AI does not see or use private ballot-level data by default to influence the result.

The product design calls for:

Unlisted rooms.
High-entropy share access.
Separate creator capability.
Minimal guest identity.
Private individual rankings.
Privacy-safe aggregate results.
Result cards that omit participant identity by default.
Explicit account-merging rules that preserve anonymous-room promises.
Revocable safe sharing.
Clear deletion and retention behavior.

What Rankroom is not

It is not a complex survey builder.
It is not a long-form discussion forum.
It does not give paid users more ballot weight.
It does not give creators a hidden bonus vote.
It does not expose private ballots by default.
It does not secretly change results for affiliate or sponsor value.
The consensus index is a product indicator, not a scientific probability.
The launch clients are responsive web and Android; iOS is future scope.
